BIOGRAPHY
Mike originates from Prince
George, British Columbia where as a youngster, he was very quiet and shy. Mike grew up with music in his blood,
raised in a musical family with his late father’s musician friends practicing in the living room and to the sounds
of classic country music recordings by Hank Williams, George Jones, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and Charlie Pride.
Siblings Buddy and Kym have also followed their father's musical path.
Throughout his school
years, Mike was better known for his skills in athletics than in music until one day he shocked everyone and joined
some of his old high school friends and formed a band called Gunshy. They went on to tour clubs, rodeos and music
festivals throughout Western Canada performing popular cover tunes and some originals.
Mike left the band to raise his family,
working a 9 to 5 job along with the occasional gig. With children grown and with their blessings, Mike entered
back into the music scene full-time taking him down to Nashville, Tennessee where he won the title of International Country Male Vocalist of the
Year with the North American Country Music Association in 2004.
It wasn't long before Mike's music began to
top radio charts around the globe. CMT
Canada included Mike Gouchie
in a documentary series entitled Plucked which aired in the Fall 2006. CMT also produced Mike’s debut music video Angels Unaware, from the album Bad
Boys & Angels, which
aired in conjunction with Plucked.
After the loss of his father in February
2007, Mike decided to move back to Prince George. He continued playing locally while raising his teenage children
but had a major setback in July 2007 when the vehicle he was driving collided with a moose on a dark highway near
his home. Mike was left with a traumatic brain injury, broken bones, and lacerations. Now nearly recovered, Mike
says, "Maybe that's what I needed, sometimes you need to give your head a shake to get inspired and pointed
back in the right direction!" Stronger and with a new outlook on life, Mike is currently traveling back and
forth to Nashville, writing and recording before heading off to Las Vegas to finish up his third album.
