Backgrounder:
An element of competition is introduced as CMT viewers ultimately decide the act with the most star potential through text message voting in a two-hour live in-studio special on Monday, November 13 at 6 PM PST. The studio audience, artists and industry executives converge in the CMT studios where the lucky and talented winner is awarded $35,000 towards the making of their next music video.

Taking six independent country artists who have each achieved regional and opening act-level success, this six-part documentary/competition series strives to take them to headliner status by giving them all the tools they need to “make it.” Each episode profiles one act, following their daily lives: their day jobs, their hopes, families and friends, and their unpolished songs. Then it’s off to music industry boot camp in Toronto, where, with the assistance of music industry experts Ron Kitchener (RGK Entertainment Group Inc.), Alan Frew (Glass Tiger) and Bonnie Fedrau (So Star Struck!), they’re in for a rapid transformation: management consultation, a style makeover and the production of their own music videos. At boot camp, dreams, a remarkable opportunity, and the reality of a tough industry all collide.

“We are pleased to continue CMT’s tradition of spotlighting undiscovered artists with Plucked,” said Ted Ellis, Director of Programming, CMT. “This innovative series allows us to nurture the careers of several Canadian artists, while providing viewers with an engaging and interactive experience.”

"Aboriginal Nashville Recording Artist, Mike Gouchie: Mike's reputation as a go-getter and hard working artist is leaving an impressive mark with people in the music business and is earning him many new friends in the industry. His fresh new sound is being played on airwaves around the world from Tokyo to Arizona, back to Canada and beyond"

January 2006
A message from Mike:
2005 has been a year full of everything expected of a struggling independent recording artist. Endless hours, days & months of worrying where my next month's rent is going to come from. Searching for good paying gigs or not so good paying gigs that will lead to something good! Thank you to everyone who invited me to their events this year.

Throughout the year I've had everything from the pleasure of headlining for a crowd of over 20,000 people to visiting an old friend's house in my hometown to sing in his living room, always enjoying and giving my best to every situation.

I travelled to Nashville and recorded my full length debut CD "Bad Boys & Angels". This record has received amazing reviews from Country Music News to radio stations all over the World. As I write this, every track off the record is being played somewhere world-wide. Plans are being made in January for National and International tours for 2006.

Hard work and persistence paid off in a big way when I was picked by CMT (Country Music Television) for a new Documentary series titled "Plucked". People who think they know me will get to see a softer side of "The Gouch" and where I came from. My debut music video "Angels Unaware", will be airing on CMT late March, early April 2006.

All in all I'm still here, and I plan on being here for a very long time!

Mike Gouchie
(The Gouch)

P.S. Watch for upcoming news. My heart tells me some exciting things are about to happen in 2006.
